TAS 031 : Amazon’s deleting 1000’s of reviews – they’ve gone too far this time. Hong Kong Trip, FBA Forward Closes and more.

By Chris on August 17, 2018

In this short episode I’m flying solo. Have been moving house and super busy trying to pack up and then unpack a lot of boxes.

Today I wanted to discuss the impact Amazon’s super aggressive review deletion program is having on 3rd Party Amazon sellers. This is wholesale carnage.

I’ll be in Hong Kong late October speaking about Amazon Australia at the Glocal Sources Summit. I have trepidations about doing this speech as I’m still on the fence about Amazon’s chances of success here. Hopefully I’ll be eating my words in a year or 2.

Details of the trip:

Global Sources Summit: www.globalsources.com/summit

  • Regular price US$799 / ticket
  • Early Bird Price is now on…. Be quick
  • Special offer for The Australian Seller Podcast listeners: Use promotional code TAS100 for a US$100 discount / ticket here: www.globalsources.com/summit

Come to our meetup in Melbourne on the 30th August: www.theaustralianseller.com/meetup

FBA Forward went out of business! So sad, they were great until a month or 2 before they closed the doors. I’ve signed up with www.riversourcelogistics.com – I’ll report back on my experiences with them in the coming months.

Next week I have Hamish Conway from www.sellglobal.co.nz coming on the show!

TAS 030 : OA, RA, PL and Amazon Prep Centers! Heather Jackson explains all from Oregon Buy, Prep and Ship

By Chris on August 3, 2018

Great to be back!

I’ve been on leave for the last 5 weeks and it’s good to be back in the saddle.

In today’s episode, Heather Jackon from Oregon Buy, Prep and Ship comes on the show to talk about how 3rd Party Prep Centers work in the USA, what services they offer and traps to watch out for. Heather lived in Australia for 24 years before heading back to the USA with her husband 18 months ago.

Heather was selling very successfully on Amazon with her sister and Mum using a combination of Online Arb, Retail Arb and some Wholesaling. She explains what those methods of selling on Amazon are all about.

Hope you enjoy today’s podcast!

TAS 027 : Will Amazon be redirecting traffic back to Amazon.com.au? – Scott Kilmartin comes back to discuss the implications!

By Chris on June 1, 2018

Short sharp episode today with Scott Kilmartin who comes on to discuss the Amazon vs. Treasurer Scott Morrison situation!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know already that Amazon will be redirecting Australian users away from the likes of Amazon.com, amazon.co.uk et al. and back to amazon.com.au.

This is all in response to the Government requiring Amazon to collect GST for it, on any sale that any Australian makes on any of its global platforms.

Amazon’s response caught everyone off guard so I’ve got Scott on the show to try and work through what it means for Australian consumers and Australian Amazon sellers!

Enjoy.

TAS 026 : From Backpacking in Australia to a $350K exit in 18 months – How falling in love led Leon to Amazon.

By Chris on May 17, 2018

On today’s show, Leon shares his story about backpacking around Australia as a young German tourist, falling in love with a local girl, but then had to head back to Germany before returning back again to be with his girlfriend.

Leon needed to build a location independent business he could run from anywhere in the world and settled on Amazon. He grew rapidly throughout Amazon Europe and after 18 months is about to exit his Amazon business for $350,000.

Not a bad result for 18 months work!

Did I mention Leon is in his early 20’s?

Hope you enjoy Leon’s story.
